HSS 100 - Ancient & Medieval Architecture: Introduction & E-Reference Sources

Welcome to the Ancient and Medieval Architecture OWHL Guide

Below is a list of available reference sources to help you get started on your research.

Remember, reference sources will give you a broad overview of your topic. They won't provide all the information, but they will help you create a research roadmap of what you should do next in the research process.

After taking notes from one of the reference sources linked or listed on this page, try filling out the "Topic Development Worksheet" listed below.

Right: Court of the Lions at the Alhambra Palace, Granada, Spain.

In Noodletools, to cite the sources below, use these choices "Where is it?" > Database, "What is it?" > Reference Source for the correct form.

The last source, Trade, Travel and Exploration in the Middle Ages, is from the Internet Archive, so you would choose Website, instead of Database.  If you are in Internet Archive, you may want to set up an account using your P.A. email address.
