Accessing Resources From Off-Campus

Since most of your research will be done off-campus, accessing any of the OWHL's online resources and databases is still possible, however, the system acts a little differently. Whenever prompted use your 7-digit, Student ID number (on the back of your blue card) for your library card number, and use the last four digits of that same ID number for your PIN.

Example:

This database provides scholarly and secondary source articles on all aspects of education with coverage from 1966 to the present. It is sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education
Education Database by ProQuest

This database provides access to over 900 top educational publications, with topic coverage ranging from primary, secondary and higher education to special education, home schooling, and adult education.
Very Short Introductions: Arts and Humanities by Oxford

Includes over 300 Very Short Introductions in the Arts and Humanities. These titles cover a range of subject areas, across History, Literature, Philosophy, Religion, Classics, Drama, and more.
Academic Search Elite by EBSCO

This multidisciplinary database provides the full text of more than 2,100 journals, including more than 1,700 peer-reviewed titles.

If you have a specific citation for a journal, magazine or newspaper article, Full Text Finder is a great tool.

- If you are accessing it from off-campus you will need to enter your library card number and PIN first.
Once in the database, type the name of the journal, magazine or newspaper into the search box to find out which databases provide access.
- If you see results, be sure to look under "Full Text Access" to view the the data-ranges available through a given database; we don't always have access to every issue of a journal, magazine, or newspaper.

This database provides access to a comprehensive selection of prestigious humanities and social sciences journals, including Mexican Studies, US Latino & Oral History

Gender: Identity & Social Change
Essential primary sources documenting the changing representations and lived experiences of gender roles and relations from the nineteenth century to the present. This expansive collection offers sources for the study of women's suffrage, the feminist movement, the men’s movement, employment, education, the body, the family, and government and politics.

Gale Academic OneFile
This database provides millions of articles from over 17,000 scholarly journals and other authoritative sources, including Nature, The Economist and Classical Studies. In addition, it contains hundreds of podcasts and transcripts from NPR, CNN, and the CBC.
